Samford Show

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July 2024

Welcome

The Samford Show Society is a ‘not for profit’ incorporated organisation. Our committee of volunteers are trustees of the Samford Showground; our role is to ensure this major facility can be used safely and responsibly in the provision of entertainment for the Samford Community and surrounding district, associations and clubs and sponsors of private functions.

We are very supportive of events which raise funds for community groups and organisations, showcase local events and artists, raise the profile of the Samford Community and provide entertainment for Samford and neighbouring communities.

A Reflection on our 2023 Annual Show

The weather gods smiled on Samford for the weekend of the 2023 Show, held on 15 and 16 July. The result was yet another record crowd from all over South-East Queensland and interstate enjoying the sublime weather and the amazing natural environment.

One visitor from Mexico was overwhelmed by the friendly atmosphere and the location.

Comments from visitors were universally complimentary – “your showground is a hidden gem – don’t let anything happen to it”; “brightest and best country show I’ve ever been to”; “why bother with the Ekka”; “my kids gave it the thumbs up – they’re pretty picky so there’s no greater compliment”; “amazing variety of attractions and fun things to do”: “I’ve rarely seen so much quality horseflesh in one place at the one time”; “love the country feel”; “as a stallholder at many shows I’ve seen a lot, and this one takes the cake”; “the woodchop is terrific”; “I’ve never given cattle much thought but they’re actually quite interesting” …. and so on. There were also positive suggestions for improvement and these will be taken on board by the volunteers on the Show Society Committee.

A highlight of 2023 was the alliance with Samford State School to form a Junior Show Committee, giving the children a role in what is essentially an event held for their enjoyment. Thanks Principal Nicole, deputy Principal John and P&C president Jo.

In 2023 we implemented new arrangements for parking which took cars off Showgrounds Drive, so queuing was virtually eliminated much to the relief of drivers and local residents. The Samford Rover Scouts did a fantastic job directing traffic. Discounted on-line ticket sales continued to grow.

We also took great care to attract only high-quality food outlets, and the satisfied smiles of patrons in the Food Court told their own story.

Behind the scenes, the Committee was able to draw on the goodwill of local politicians and the practical support of sponsors in the business community such as the Community Bank, Samford Garage, the Village Pump and the Variety Store, to mention just a few. Sponsors benefit directly and indirectly through their connection with such an iconic community event. Other volunteer organisations such as the CWA, Rotary, Lions, the Stags and Rangers, the Fire Brigade and others also contributed to what is fundamentally a celebration of the extraordinary place in which we live.

We thank all our patrons, exhibitors, stallholders, volunteers and sponsors in the community who make every Show a tremendous success.

Samford Showgrounds

The Showground is situated approximately 25km from Brisbane City and 7km from Samford Village, in a unique country setting cradled by Mount Glorious, Mount O’Reilly, Mount Nebo and D’aguilar State Forest. Set in 40 lush acres, we have camping facilities, powered sites for caravans, various buildings that can be hired out year-round together with an arena and pavilion. Many events can be held at the same time owing to the large area and facilities available. Our live-in manager maintains the grounds and deals with any issues.

Caravan, Camping & Hire Facilities

The Samford Show Society’s resident manager, Terry Rowbottom, is able to provide advice and help.
The Showground has facilities for caravans and camping for individuals and clubs. Facilities such as pavilion, kitchen/bar and arena are available for hire. To explore the facilities and enjoy the peace and quiet of these surroundings you will find the contact detail on the Camping & Facilities Hire page.
